Car diagnostics & auto-electrical fault finding

A warning light or fault code tells you that the car has detected a problem; it does not always tell you what has caused it. AutoNet VIP provides structured fault finding for petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles.

Diagnostics & Electrical

Our aim is to diagnose the cause of the fault before recommending parts or repair work, helping you avoid unnecessary component replacement and giving you a clear next step.

01 Problems we can investigate

  • Dashboard warning lights
  • Engine management faults
  • Electrical faults
  • Battery and charging problems
  • Starting problems
  • Intermittent faults
  • Sensor and control-system issues
  • EV and hybrid warning messages
  • High-voltage faults
  • Reduced power / limp mode
  • Cooling and temperature warnings
  • Unusual electrical behaviour

02 What to tell us when booking

  • The warning message or light you have seen
  • When the problem happens
  • Whether it is constant or intermittent
  • Any recent repairs or battery work
  • Whether charging, starting or performance has changed
  • Anything unusual you noticed before the fault appeared

More than reading fault codes

A fault code is a starting point. Effective diagnostics may also involve checking live data, electrical supply, wiring, sensors, supporting components and the way multiple systems interact. This helps avoid replacing components simply because they appear in a code description.

Auto-electrical fault finding

Electrical problems can cause intermittent starting issues, battery drain, warning lights, charging faults, sensor problems and unexpected behaviour. We investigate electrical supply, wiring, control systems and related components rather than simply clearing a code and waiting for the fault to return.

EV & high-voltage diagnostics

For electric and hybrid vehicles, we can also investigate battery, charging, BMS, low-voltage and high-voltage system faults. Where appropriate, we route the vehicle into our dedicated EV or Tesla high-voltage diagnostic service.

Not sure what your car needs?

You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself. Tell us what the car is doing, any warning messages you can see and when the fault started — we will recommend the right inspection or diagnostic route.
