More than routine EV servicing

Many EV garages focus mainly on tyres, brakes and routine inspection. AutoNet VIP can also investigate faults within the electrical and high-voltage system — a useful first point of contact when an EV develops warning messages, charging problems, reduced performance or battery-related faults.

Not sure whether the fault is battery, charging or electrical?

That is exactly what diagnostics are for. Tell us what the vehicle is doing and any messages on the dashboard. We start with the appropriate checks and avoid replacing parts based on guesswork.

EV FAQs

Do you service electric and hybrid vehicles?

Yes. We provide servicing, diagnostics and repair support for fully electric, plug-in hybrid and self-charging hybrid vehicles — from routine maintenance through to high-voltage fault investigation.

What does an EV service actually involve?

EVs need less engine-related maintenance, but they still need regular inspection. Brakes, tyres, suspension, cabin filters, brake fluid, cooling systems and the 12-volt battery all remain important, and are checked as part of an EV service.

My EV is showing a battery or charging warning. Does the battery need replacing?

Not necessarily. Many high-voltage faults relate to supporting components — the battery management system, contactors, safety devices, cooling, power conversion or the 12-volt supply — rather than the complete pack. We diagnose first so repair decisions are based on evidence.

Can you check the health of my EV’s high-voltage battery?

We carry out high-voltage battery and BMS diagnostics and can provide a diagnostic report or certificate where appropriate. Get in touch with your make and model and we will advise what is suitable for your vehicle.

Can you repair or replace high-voltage batteries?

For Tesla we offer high-voltage pack replacement and, where diagnosis shows it is suitable, module replacement on Model S and Model X. For other makes we evaluate the system and advise whether the next step is repair, component replacement or further specialist testing. All battery work is assessed case by case.

Why do EV brakes still need attention if regenerative braking does most of the work?

Because the friction brakes are used less, discs and pads can corrode — especially in damp weather or on cars used for short trips. Electronic parking brakes and brake-by-wire systems also need the right diagnostic equipment.

Do electric cars need an MOT?

Yes. Electric and hybrid vehicles require an MOT in the same way as other eligible vehicles — and if yours also needs servicing or diagnostics, it can all stay with one workshop.

Which EV makes do you work on?

Tesla, BMW, MINI, Volkswagen, Audi, Cupra, Skoda, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Polestar, BYD, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Ford and Vauxhall, among others. If yours is not listed, ask us.
